Geoff, Wind Sports

There’s the thrill of doing it, the feeling of accomplishment, and the feeling of well-being after. I want other people to share in that joy.
— Geoff, 53

Whether it's warm summer waves or frozen winter ice, there's nothing Geoff loves more than being on the lake. All year round, he'll assess the wind strength and direction, and set off on a two to three-hour session.

"The sense of flying over the water is truly unreal," he says. "I feel unbound by gravity. And it's even better with waves!"

The pandemic allowed Geoff opportunities to get out and stay active while some others could not. The roads to the lakes were quieter, and he felt very fortunate for the opportunity to immerse himself in the natural world.

"I feel a connection with the environment around me," he says. "There's a progression that happens when you keep going, following the wind."

Geoff hopes to share his passion with others, by teaching or by example. "There's the thrill of doing it, the feeling of accomplishment, and the feeling of well-being after. I want other people to share in that joy. With consistent activity, I can maintain a sense of physical, mental, and spiritual balance."
